Another swimming themed post

Seeing as we didn't have any pool pics from Ada's swimming adventure, we thought we'd post some pics of her in her swim suit because... um.... we like the mermaids.

In this pic she's lying on the blanket that Aunt Rose wove for her.

A day at Doon Pioneer Village

Ada's aunt Terry took us all to Doon Pioneer Village today. We have surprisingly few pics of her from the outing so we'll start with those. First up... Ada in her bonnet (a prezzie from Aunt Susan)...

A message to future Ada (who, no doubt, is looking at this "blog" on some quaint piece of antiquated technology): About the bonnet... You have to realize everybody thinks it looks cute. Your mom. Aunt Terry. All the relatives all over Canada reading this post right now no doubt. So, the consensus opinion would seem to be that this is an adorable bonnet. I, your father, however think it looks ridiculous and would have much preferred to dress you up in a sensible piece of headwear (like a fedora or a pith helmet). Your mom (and Aunt Terry) insisted on the bonnet. I let it go under protest. Of course, that won't stop me from pulling this photo out to embarrass you with on your first date. (Who is, no doubt, looking over your shoulder right now.) Ha ha ha!

Above is Terry Karen and Ada by the train. And now... the highlight of the trip... STILTS!!!

Ada after swimming

Been a while since we posted anything. So here're some shots of ada just after her second swimming outing. We didn't take any pool shots because we didn't want to get the camera wet.

"New" rocking chair

Here's Ada relaxing and maxing in our new rocking chair. We rescued it (the chair) from the neighbour's trash. It's in okay shape but creaks like crazy. Have to cinch something up somewhere. But dig that cushion Karen made for it! Pretty cool how I've got the best baby on the planet AND my wife is pretty handy too.

I'm a lucky guy. A lucky lucky guy.

Garden update

Whoops. Meant to post these yesterday.
Here're are some pics from Michelle's garden...

That's that little green pepper from the last garden update. It's all grown up into an awkward teen of a green pepper. Soon to become a big strapping lad of a green pepper.

And here're some wee tomatoes ripening up.

And here's Ada posing for scale with those tomatoes.

Ada's new outfit

Check it out! Ada's wearing a brand new skirt that Karen just sewed up for her. See how it matches Karen's skirt. It's like they're twins. Awwww, how cute. Or... rather... how nerdy.

Happiest day ever

You probably can't tell from this picture -- in which Ada looks merely curious -- but this has been her happiest day to date. Why? Because we rigged up her crib so that she could spend a couple hours sans diaper. And in this heat, losing a couple layers of padding is a very good thing.

Ada getting a bath

Pic's fairly self explanatory except to say that it's really hot here --- the it's-not-the-heat-it's-the-humidity kinda hot --- so we're bathing her often. And she actually seems to enjoy bathtime now. Which is good.

an evening stroll through the wetland

This is Ada enjoying an earling evening walk through the local wetlands with her trusty mosquito net.

And this is Karen wishing she had a mosquito net. It was a short walk.

This gives you an idea of how much Ada enjoys Paul's singing.

The Satellite Motel

We got up early and went down to Cambridge to get some pics of the Satellite Motel. Pretty keen, hunh?

Michelle's garden still a-okay

Here's some flowers from Michelle's front garden. Despite Karen wanting to eat the flowers, everything is still alive.

Full baby

This is Ada's "oh my god, i can't believe I just ate that much" face. We see this one quite a lot. As mentioned below: a Meagher girl through and through.

For the first time captured on film

A big happy pre-feeding grin. "There's milk in them thar hills," thinks Ada.

Michelle's pepper

So that Michelle -- who's travelling at the moment -- is reassured that we are in fact keeping an eye on her garden, here's a close up shot of a pepper that's just sprouted on one of her plants. (Michelle... The garden looks great. We haven't killed anything. Yet.)

Ada with pepper

To give a sense of scale, here's Ada standing next to Michelle's pepper.

tomato

And here's a huge tomato from Michelle's garden.

ada and karen

And here's Ada being cranky about having muddy feet.

And in crafting news

Tracy came over this evening not knowing how to sew and left with mad sewing skills. Witness the mighty pinkness of her pillow in all its floral majesty!

Decked out in her commie gear

"Up with trees... Down with capitalism" says the onesie. It's a present from Kristiana as if you couldn't guess. The hat was knit by Karen's math chum, Caroline. The plan now is to take her downtown and teach her how to smash stuff. Like the state! We reckon Ada can carry the spray paint and the crowbars then if the cops come sniffing 'round we can be all like "Look man, you try to bring 'em up right, but sometimes they just go astray, y'know?" What??? She's a minor. No way she's doing any hard time.

The Blue Castle 2

And here's Ada being read to from a different, cuter, angle.

The Blue Castle

Karen and Ada have just gotten to the part in the Blue Castle where [spoiler warning] Valency and Barney get married. Will their marriage be happiness and bliss or will it be fraught with complications? There's still a quarter of the book to go. Gee... I wonder?
